Violet Ray “Advertising the Contradictions” opens in conjunction with “West of Center: Art and the Counterculture Experiment in America, 1965-1977.”
The Eugene-based media artist will give a talk on Wednesday, February 27, at 5:30 p.m.
EUGENE, Ore. -- (Feb, 6, 2012) – Organized to complement “West of Center: Art and the Counterculture Experiment in America, 1965-1977,” the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art presents media artist Violet Ray’s “Advertising the Contradictions,” activist-themed collaged works from the 1960s, on view February 9 through April 28, 2013. Ray will give an artist’s talk on Wednesday, February 27, at 5:30 p.m.

The murals will be on view in the Coeta and Donald Barker Gallery from December 21, 2012, through January 20, 2013.
Wells Fargo donates $5,000 to Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art education program to benefit teachers in three Oregon counties
EUGENE, Ore. -- (Dec. 11, 2012) – A $5,000 donation from Wells Fargo to the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art (JSMA) on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene will help fund a unique training program for up to thirty K-Grade 12 teachers from Lane, Linn and Benton Counties.

Contemporary Artist Lesley Dill’s “Poetic Visions” opens at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art
EUGENE, Ore. -- (August 29, 2012) – The special exhibition “Lesley Dill’s Poetic Visions: From Shimmer to Sister Gertrude Morgan” opens at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art on the University of Oregon campus on September 29 and will be on view through December 9, 2012.
An array of programs complement “Poetic Visions,” including an artist talk by Dill on Thursday, September 27, at 6 p.m. in 177 Lawrence Hall and a free, public opening at the JSMA on Friday, September 28, from 6 – 8 p.m.

EUGENE, Ore. -- (October 17, 2012) – The annual Día de los Muertos celebration returns to the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art for two days of activities, on Tuesday, October 30, and Thursday, November 1, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The free celebrations are open to the community and feature poetry, music, and a keynote address.

Renoir, de Chirico and Moore works go on view as part of the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art’s Masterworks on Loan program
EUGENE, Ore. -- (September 14, 2012) – Works by Giorgio de Chirico, Paul Delvaux, Anne-Louis Girodet de Roucy-Trioson, Henry Moore, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, are now on view in the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art’s Focus Gallery as part of the Masterworks on Loan program. The works will be on view September 18 through December 30, 2012.
