Welcome to the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art’s Art Teaches Remote Learning Portal.
Here you will gain access to learning opportunities that were created with teachers, for teachers. These art-based learning opportunities are for use in the classroom, in at-home settings or in a hybrid teaching approach. Each focused curriculum can be used in its entirety or with a building-block approach, using the video tours, lesson plans and art or writing activities as needed or desired.

We hope that you’ll find the material easy to use and relevant to your work in the classroom. Designed for students in grades 4-8, we have created ideas for scaling the work to both younger and older audiences and have found the material has been engaging for adults as well. Join Steve Prince, Director of Engagement and Distinguished Artist in Residence, Muscarelle Museum of Art at William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and Leah Glenn, Professor of Dance at William and Mary University and Founder/Creative Director of the Leah Glenn Dance Theater, at a remote teacher professional development opportunity. The program, The Power of the Arts: How Artists can Teach us about Empathy and Community Building, is filled with information, ideas and discussion as well as an interactive remote art and movement experience.
Steve and Leah will share about the work they are doing in Virginia with their mile long Communal Quilt Project in Williamsburg and how you can create fabric art quilt squares and block prints to be included in a future JSMA exhibition and in the Williamsburg project.
