World of Work is a 3-month paid internship program for high school students that will begin in early April and will continue through the beginning of June in-person at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art (JSMA). The internship opportunity will be awarded to applicants from underserved populations in Lane and Linn-Benton Counties. We are inviting students of underrepresented communities to apply to this opportunity to be offered a museum work experience to explore museum careers. With this internship we hope applicants of underrepresented communities are able to explore a career field that many may have not known or felt was available to them.
World of Work interns will be engaged with a variety of museum departments, will experience interactive art making in the studio, and will view art in the galleries while working under the mentorship of museum professionals, students and practicing artists. Students will receive a stipend of up to $700 for their participation in the program.
From this program, World of Work interns will leave with a better knowledge of the different careers in museums, essential skill sets that can be applied universally and will be able to have made new connections within the art industry.
