Faculty may use the museum collection, including objects not on view, to enhance student understanding of course topics. Students and their instructor may view a selection of artwork in the Collections Lab, Gilkey Research Center, Papé Reception Hall depending on the size of the class and works requested. Collections staff will be present to facilitate the visit. Faculty interested in using the collections should complete the Museum Visit Form early in the term.
Faculty are expected to:
- Meet with collections staff in advance to discuss interest in using the museum collection for class
- Preview objects or work from a checklist (Collections staff are available to assist with preparing a checklist if necessary)
- Submit the Museum Visit Form with a minimum of two (2) weeks' notice
Special Projects with Students
Occasionally, faculty members want their students to be involved in long-term or intensive research projects. This usually takes the form of research on a particular collection or group of works. To facilitate this process, please:
- Contact Anne Rose Kitagawa, Chief Curator of Collections & Asian Art and Director of Academic Programs, ark@uoregon.edu
- Discuss the project and its goals with Collections staff
- Provide class syllabus and schedule
- Submit the Museum Visit Form with a minimum of two (2) weeks' notice
