Free Family Day at the University of Oregon’s Jordan Schnitzer Museum Unites Celebrations from Around the World
EUGENE, Ore. -- (November 26, 2019) - The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon invites families to spend a day at the museum enjoying free activities at “Celebrations Around the World” on Saturday, December 7, from noon to 3 p.m. This free family day on the University of Oregon campus includes art activities for children of all ages.
“Family Day is a wonderful opportunity for us to bring the galleries to life by viewing them through the lens of a child,” says Hannah Bastian, JSMA Manager of Museum Education Programs. “We love coming up with activities that will engage children and reflect the beautiful artwork on display.”
Art making activities include creating ink splat illustrations, recycled art, impressionist style holiday cards, and paper art. Performances throughout the day include storytelling with Mark Riddle from the Springfield Public Library, special performances by the Dragon Puppet Theatre and Upstart Crow Children’s Theatre, and a family-friendly museum tour.
Family Day is supported by the Lane County Medical Society.
