Focus on Tibet

April 02, 2013 to May 19, 2013

In conjunction with the May 10 Eugene visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the JSMA is presenting a small selection of art from Tibet and relating to Tibetan Buddhism, largely drawn from the museum’s permanent collection. The installation includes an
thangka painting depicting scenes from the life of the early Tibetan Buddhist teacher Tsongkhapa (1357–1419) and a magnificent Chinese court painting of the Medicine Buddha. Also on view is a gilt-bronze Buddhist triad and works depicting Tibetan priests by Western artists.
