Artist Rick Bartow and writer Barry Lopez will discuss their reflections on life, art, philosophy, and the natural world. Lopez has described Bartow as his “longtime friend, advisor, and collaborator.”

Originally founded as a museum of East Asian art, the JSMA’s significant holdings of Chinese, Korean and Japanese art allow UO students and visitors to study these dynamic cultures. Chief curator of Asian art Anne Rose Kitagawa leads visitors through the current exhibitions with emphasis on Chinese garden imagery and Korean scholarly aesthetics.

Learn techniques in using art to reduce stress in your daily life with art therapist Sara McDonough, LMFT, ATR-BC. Make art and stress less! Spend time making art for yourself rather than class requirements in this free drop-in art workshop for UO students. The program, which takes place in the JSMA's art studio, is aimed at providing a relaxing outlet and a break from the stress of schoolwork where art making can be used for self-reflection and decompression. All supplies are included.
How do you become a collector? Why do collectors collect? What does it mean to manage other's private collections? We1ll explore answers to these and other questions on our panel with special guests, collectors and collections managers Amber Noland, Josh Roth, and Andrew Teufel; moderated by JSMA executive director Jill Hartz.
