The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art hosts free outdoor screening of “Coco”

The family-friendly film will be preceded with art activities and a reception for the artists visiting for the 20x21EUG Mural Project

EUGENE, Ore. -- (June 25, 2018) –  The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art’s Family Outdoor Film program returns this summer with Disney/Pixar’s “Coco” on Wednesday, August 1, at 8:45 p.m. at the University of Oregon Memorial Quad – in front of the museum. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, family, and friends.

At 6 p.m., the JSMA along with Forrest Paint and Imagination International, Inc, 20x21EUG Mural Project sponsors, will have family-friendly art activities before the film starts. Snacks will be provided by Cosmos Creations, while supplies last.

Directed by Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina, “Coco” is an animated film that offers a colorful and stunning narrative that focuses on a young boy named Miguel, who dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz. However, despite his love of music and budding talent, Miguel is halted by his family’s generations-old ban on all forms of music.

Through a mysterious series of events, Miguel is thrust into the colorful Land of the Dead. Along the way, he befriends a charismatic trickster named Hector. Together they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

From 6 to 8:30 p.m., join the JSMA before the screening of “Coco” for the 20x21 Eugene Walls Artists Reception. The 20x21 Eugene Mural Project is an initiative of the City of Eugene’s Public Art Program.
