Free Family Day at the University of Oregon’s Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art is Your Passport Through Art

EUGENE, Ore. -- (March 20, 2019) - The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon invites families to spend a day at the museum enjoying free activities at “Passport Through Art” on Saturday, April 13, from noon to 3 p.m. on the University of Oregon campus.  This free family day includes art activities for children of all ages.

“Family Day will serve as an opportunity for guests to travel around the world through the JSMA art collection,” says Hannah Bastian, JSMA Manager of Museum Education Programs. “Activities will involve creating a passport and art souvenirs to document the journey.”

Art making activities include creating a family day travel pass to guide visitors through the event, making a sculpted landscape, crafting recycled beads, and making Chinese paper cut art with the University of Oregon’s Confucius Institute.  Performances throughout the day include storytelling with Mark Riddle from the Springfield Public Library, a special performance by Ballet Fantastique, and a family-friendly museum tour.

The public is also invited to attend the artist reception for the 11th Annual NewArt Northwest Kids, which is at 11 a.m. the same day.

Family Day is supported by Transforming Lives: The JSMA at 85 Gala.
