Comics Portfolio Reviews with Alec Longstreth

Are you an aspiring cartoonist?  Sign up for a free 15-minute portfolio review with Center for Cartoon Studies faculty member Alec Longstreth.  Bring a sketchbook, portfolio, a minicomic, some original comics pages, JPGs or even just a URL and Longstreth will provide feedback, answer questions and point students to resources that will help them improve their cartooning.  Portfolio reviews will take place in the JSMA's Ford Lecture Hall on Wednesday, November 28 from 7-8 p.m. and Thursday, November 29 from 9-11 a.m.  Advance registration is required.  To reserve your spot, contact Sharon Kaplan, kaplan@uoregon.edu or (541) 346-0968 and indicate your preferred review day/time(s).

Alec Longstreth has been self-publishing his minicomic Phase 7 since 2002.  In 2005, Phase 7 won the Ignatz Award for Outstanding Minicomic and in 2007 Longstreth won the Ignatz Award for Outstanding Debut.  In 2008 Longstreth became a Fellow at The Center for Cartoon Studies.  He has been a member of the CCS Faculty ever since.  In 2008, L'employé du Moi published a 200-page collection of Phase 7 comics and later this year they will release the French version of his first graphic novel, Basewood.  Alec also works as a colorist for FirstSecond books and as a freelance illustrator.  His illustration clients include Weezer, Nickelodeon Magazine, National Geographic for Kids and many more.  Check out Alec's work at:  www.alec-longstreth.com
