“Art, Taxes and the Law” Subject of Upcoming Lecture at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art

EUGENE, Ore. -- (February 11, 2016) –  Los Angeles-based attorney Paul N. Frimmer will discuss “Art, Tax, and the Law” as part of the “Collecting and Connoisseurship” series at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art on  February 29, 2016 at 6 p.m.  He will be interviewed by Jill Hartz, JSMA Executive Director, and Doug Park, UO’s Deputy General Counsel.

 

Frimmer, previous associate professor of law at the USC law school and a one of our nation’s most knowledgeable art tax advisors, will help to clarify the complicated questions surrounding art investments, donations to museums, and tax implications in buying and selling art.  He works closely with the JSMA on its Masterworks on Loan program and will discuss the California law that encourages collectors to lend their works to the museum. 

 

Frimmer specializes in estate planning, wills and trusts, probate and trust administration, post mortem tax planning, probate litigation, charitable giving, art law and tax issues relating to these matters. He has authored or co-authored more than 50 publications on estate planning and related areas and is a frequent speaker at national estate planning seminars and institutes, including the NYU Tax Institute, the USC Tax Institute, ALI-ABA seminars, and the USC Probate and Trust Institute. He currently serves on the Planning Committee of the USC Tax Institute and the UCLA Estate Planning Institute.

 

About the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art

The University of Oregon's Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art is a premier Pacific Northwest museum for exhibitions and collections of historic and contemporary art based in a major university setting. The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art is located on the University of Oregon campus at 1430 Johnson Lane. Museum hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens. Free admission is given to ages 18 and under, JSMA members, college students with ID, and University of Oregon faculty, staff and students.
