WORKSHOPS AND CLASSES

Adventures in Art: Parent/Child Art Class

Five Mondays, starting October 20-November 17, 10-11 a.m.

Ages 3-6 with an adult

Instructor: TBD

Cost: $40 per child ($36 for museum members); accompanying adult is free

Explore the entrancing world of art through your child’s excited eyes and growing skills!  This class is designed to present the fundamentals of art, a variety of media, and the tools an artist uses in a series of hands-on, engaging art projects.  Lessons include exploration of line, color mixing, printmaking, collage, drawing, and sculpture.   Each class begins with reading an art-related storybook and a visit to the galleries to see artwork related to the day’s project.

After School Art Class: Viva Cuba!

Seven Wednesdays, starting October 22-December 10, 3:30-5:00 p.m. (no class 11/26)

Ages 7-12

Cost: $75 ($67.50 for museum members)

Instructor: Liz Parr

Participants in this flavorful art class will explore Cuba with all of their artistic senses.  Listen to Cuban music and create works of art inspired by the island, and explore Cuban food as art. Using some of the same techniques used in the Cuba Avant-Garde exhibition, kids in this class will create vibrant works of using many different media, Cuban style.

 

Latin Dance Workshop

Wednesday, November 19, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Linda Staver of StaverDanceSport leads a Latin dance workshop.  Come for an enjoyable dance experience including a lesson and a showcase performance by students from StaverDanceSport.  No partner necessary!  $3/person.
