Art History Symposium Art Works: Labor of Creation
Keynote speaker: Julia Dolan, Ph.D., Chief Curator and the Minor White Senior Curator of Photography at the Portland Art Museum Each year, the University of Oregon Art History Student Association selects a theme that speaks to pressing questions within the field of art history. Our Annual Symposium provides graduate students with the opportunity to present their research, gain valuable conference experience, and engage with art history scholars from across the country. This year’s symposium, Art Works: Labor of Creation, explores the intersections of artistic production and labor practices across chronologies and geographies. By examining how art is shaped by systems of work, material conditions, and social structures, the symposium invites participants to consider the many ways labor informs creative practice across time and place.
